About Me

I am actively looking (as of March/April 2012) for a PHP/Web Development position in the Toronto area with a preference to the east end. Although my experience in Quality Assurance and Management is a plus, I would prefer to focus within the area of programming at this time.

I worked my way up through the ranks of Quality Assurance with a Toronto based company, ii3, where I was given the opportunity to develop their QA Department. My position as QA Manager has not only provided me with a thorough understanding of website usability but also a strong sense of accountability with regard to the type of code one should strive to produce. Professionally, I have created Test Plans/Cases for such companies as Canada Post, MDS and Royal Bank. I received a company pin and certificate of appreciation from Canada Post for my work in ensuring the quality of their site. The highest honor that can be bestowed on an individual working outside of Canada Post.

I have developed numerous websites (selected sites are listed in the sidebar) and independently produced a recyclable Administration Area utilizing PHP to allow clients the opportunity to update information independantly of their web developers. One of these was for the King Hiram Masonic Lodge which was awarded Best Website in the Grand Lodge competition for Ontario.

As a lifelong fan of comedy and music, I have developed 1moreFAN.com, which is a website for independent artists to promote themselves. It also provides a localized search for people to easily find what is going on in their city. The true beauty of this project lies in what you can’t see. With a login the user can add/update their contact info/biography/upload music/video/pictures etc. Tied in to their ability to add/edit events, this brings a better search experience to the user by providing much more than a date/time/place event listing. Take a look. I think you’ll like it. ;-)

I would like to thank you for taking the time to review my website. Feel free to review or pass on my resume to anyone who may be interested.

Sincerely,

Stefan Fylak
